Timber Cruising

Timber Cruising
Cruising is a forest survey to locate and estimate the value and quantity of timber on a given area according to species, size, quality, possible products, or other characteristics. Timber cruising was once routine for almost all foresters. Now days, it is becoming a lost art. Depending on the individual tract of timber and the goals of the landowner, we offer several types of cruise methods. Cruise methods can be fixed-plot, prism or point, or if needed, 100% tally.

We utilize a TDS Recon field computer running TwoDog software created by Foresters, Inc. Field work combined with office computation results in a detailed report provided to the landowner which lists timber volumes and values. Acreage is determined using GPS and a high-quality and accurate timber map accompanies the timber cruise report.
